Daniel 3: 17-18 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.
Okay, I know not your typical "memory verse" but I just love it and I love their faith and trust in their God. To them it was personal, it was obvious by the way they responded and the way HE showed up in the fiery furnace!

Walking in obedience towards our future
This is the first time I have been able to sit in front of the computer all week!! It is late Friday night, way past my usual post time.
This past week I have been thanking God for his prompting regarding obedience. I hope this study has given you the ability to make some life changes. Every bible study I have completed I have certain things that sink down deep into my spirit. I've been able to draw from them in those "thirsty" times. My prayer is that this journey has brought you closer to the, well as Kelly puts it, the only God, with a capital G.
Our last week....
Through the introduction I found God prompting me to search my heart and find the ties that might be hidden those places that haven't been brought out yet during our last 7 weeks course of study. What a powerful testimony that she shared.
Day 1 pg. 168 Has another person's anger ever made you afraid to stand on your convictions??
It just makes me not want to budge...I'm so stubborn :)
pg. 169 Personal reflection
No other Gods...I just love the reference in scripture here to the study. :) This verse encourages me to just stay consistent in Him!! I love the Chris Tomlin's song, "Our God is greater." I'm sure most of you know it but there is a line that says, "God you are higher than any other." I sing this song... and I mean blaring me and the kiddos all the time in the car. That truly has become my prayer, God be higher in my life. More than anything else.
Day 2 pg. 172 Your "new thing"
There are actually two things both which will be tested by my (hopefully no longer) idol of time or lack thereof. I know God is calling me to create new friendships with some specific people and organizations.
Day 3 pg. 175 Personal reflection
Yes, I want true obedience and willingness. I love how she puts emphasis that even the promised land would require a fight. Do we want to go??? We have to eat the "milk and honey" before the manna fades away. How powerful.
Day 4. pg. 178 Fill in the blank to the last line in Chapter 1.
Barley harvest was beginning. I wanted to just remind you of God's provision. He works it all out for our good.
Day 5 pg. 179 Personal reflection
I have so many of these! Growing up in a minister's home it was always God's providence moving in my family. I am so blessed to have parents that would point this out to me as a young child. I know that every step of mine has been ordered and I can honestly see all things as God's providence. Most recently this includes our most recent move. We know that God has brought us here to our new home.
I was so excited that the last 2 days were about Ruth. It was a nice remeinder of a previous bible study (Kelly Minter's second one actually). when we started Ruth I got a new Bible and because we studied the whole book for eight weeks my Bible frequently falls open to it. To me it was almost a "full circle moment." Reminding me to make the decision to go! Go into the new place where God is calling me, allowing Him to lead, and filling the space that I've now cleared getting rid of the little gods and filling it with THE GOD!!!
We're finished!! Meditate on His words to you over the past 8 weeks. It really is life.
I love you. Amber

Scripture
So this is a scripture that I have loved for a while and has nothing to do with bible study :) I read it again on my minor prophets in a day reading :)
Micah 6: 8 He has showed you, O man what is good, To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6: 8 He has showed you, O man what is good, To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Amanda and Amy
This week is all about Amanda and Amy! Amanda has been a God send to me! She is the nurse at the peds office I work in. She really is my right hand woman and an encouragement to me. I feel like she is my little sister! Amy, I've never had the pleasure of meeting but she is Holly's sister and well if they are anything alike she has to be awesome!!!!!
Week 7. The Road Ahead
So this week I am super late!!! :) But, I have a wonderful excuse...we were on vacation in the Dominican!! It was beautiful and much needed. When I picked up my bible study book sand fell out of it this morning and I just smiled. Yep, you guessed it, I was able to do my bible study sitting on the beach.
I was encouraged in the introduction on pg. 145 " God is working out your faith. He's moving in ways you can't even dream of. He's got a comeback (though He's never truly b ehind). So do whatever it takes. Just don't leave. Hang in there, you. Upsets are especially thrilling."
Day 1 pg. 148 Can you think of a time when God asked you to turn from something but wasn't as specific as to what He wanted you to move toward?
This is a great question....and I really didn't have an answer :) but I interested in hearing yours.
Day 2 pg. 151 Write about an area of your life where you have trouble believing this.
Mine remains that I hold on to what I think I can accomplish
"by myself." Although I know that it is God who gives me the strength to accomplish it all. "God deals with our idols when He deals with our hearts!"
Day 3 pg. 153 Just interested to hear your response on "Why do you think Paul didn't tell us what his thorn in the flesh was?
I thought, maybe so we could imagine our own there and not focus on his.
(The discipline paragraph, the 2nd on the page was kicking my tail!)
pg. 155 What's your particular weakness that God's strength could be made perfect in?
Mine is the daily discipline routine. I just want to get things done and then trying to get it all accomplished is sometimes overwhelming!!!
Day 4 pg. 156
Do you obey God while not relating to Him? Have you surrendered to Him whle not trusting Him? Do you feel especially intimate with Him? Briefly describe where you're at?
I am at an intimacy part. I long for more of Him. I hunger for His word and His voice. Now if I could give up my conrol freak and allow myself to be disciplined...... haha
pg. 158 Regarding trust what speaks to you most deeply (Psalm 121)
The one who keeps me does not slumber :) So peaceful to know.
Day 5 pg, 159 Find a passage that ministers to you....share
On the way home from vacation I was so tired but couldn't sleep on the plane we had about 3 1/2 hr plane ride and I had my bible so, I read through all the minor prophets. I just couldn't stop. The one thing that stuck out to me was in Haggai 1:5 and 1:7 ESV translation states, "Consider your ways..." in the NIV it says "Give careful thought to your ways..." This really stuck out to me and I've been meditating on it for several days now!!!
this next week is our last week, can you believe it!!!! love y'all

This was from Day 4, our James readings

Andrea and Tracy
This week is all about Andrea and Tracy! I work with Andrea she is a HUGE help to me and I couldn't do my job without her. She was brought into my life by God, of this I'm sure. Tracy, I met through MOPS (when I actually got to go :) ) When I think of you Tracy, I think that you are one strong woman (and beautiful too inside and out).
